A prestigious award.
The annual BP Portrait Award is the most prestigious prize in the world in the field of contemporary portrait painting. Every year the National Portrait Gallery in London chooses from among the thousands of portraits submitted for this prestigious exhibition. These portraits may represent friends, family, or even famous people's children's nannies.
All styles are represented in this exhibition and the different approaches illustrate the diversity of contemporary painting.
The artists exhibited will have the chance to win some important commissions, with a first prize of £30,000. The competition is open to anyone aged 18 and over.
