Embankment

An embankment to be remembered.
The Thames Embankment is itself a masterpiece of civil entineering. It was long debated whether it was a sound idea to create an embankment to confine the mud along the banks, and finally the project was launched in the 19th century. Designed by Joseph Bazalgette, the construction was entirely successful and considered an almost impossible achievement at the time.
